A useful tip for finding a FAQ/Alert/TechNote in Metalink 3 is to search for

"previously 1162"

This leads to the answer to 1) which is Doc Id 478242.1

HTH

Yeah, performance seems to be getting worse and worse.

Search functionality I think is mixed - pros and cons. The Google-style "Did you mean..." function is good, and personally I like the way you can now drilldown to bugs, docs etc after running the search. Personal taste, though.

Performance! Metalink runs like a one-legged dog! I also find that the search functionality isn't as powerful or intuitive (but perhaps that is simply down to me griping about change... ;-) )

@Graham: Oracle using Siebel internally is good news - it should drive some good improvements, at least in the Sales arena.

@Andy: 1) Done :) 2) Do share..?

@George: Interesting. MetaLink3 is an application in its own right, but looking at the transition docs Oracle do say we're using "a winning combination: OracleMetaLink 3 and Siebel CRM 8.0". Not sure what that means in practice, but with Graham's information about Siebel becoming the sales CRM platform, I'd speculate that Oracle have implemented some integration between MetaLink & Siebel at the backend. Anyone care to confirm...?

It was my understanding that while the UI layer of Metalink3 is Oracle, Metalink is still using Siebel at the application layer.

I might be mistaken.
